Meet the people behind the Hanging Out Project:
Lorna Holder, Managing Director

Born in Jamaica but raised in Nottingham (UK), Lorna has over 30 years experience at executive level in the retail and fashion industries, print journalism, cultural events, visual and performing arts. Graduated from Trent University, Nottingham with BA Honours in Fashion & Textiles, Lorna worked in the Middle East as co-owner of a retail gift store, where she personally sourced goods from India, Cyprus, Dubai, Hong Kong, New York and London. Returning to London, she became Head of Fashion during the 1980s for Davies & Fields, one of Britain's largest dress manufacturing companies. Lorna owned the Lapaz Retail and Beauty shops in Camden and Nottinghill Gate during the 1980s/90s. Lorna's range of skills and professionalism was evident as the Executive Producer for the first Black Film & Television Awards in 2002 held at Grosvenor House, Park Lane. She has delivered four Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) educational projects on the cultural, social and political impact of migrants and the host community in Britain through innovative writing, stage plays and documentaries. Lorna has collaborated with the V&A, British Museum, Museum of London and the Theatre Royal Nottingham under her own project brand "Living Under One Roof". In 2009, the “Living Under One Roof” exhibition and documentary was selected for the Bamako Encounters, African Photography Biennia. In 2010, she developed “Hanging Out” project, supported by the HLF, on the diversity of youth culture in the 1950s and 1960s focusing on the themes of fashion, music, sport, film and entertainment.
Lullyn Tavares, Projects Coordinator

Lullyn has over 10 years experience in the Research & Development Unit as Administration & Projects Officer with Age Concern England (now AgeUK), in particular the development of the Black and Minority Ethnic Elders Forum. Lullyn now divides her time working partly on community projects; as an exercise (EXTEND) trainer providing exercise classes to music for people in later life and those who are less active; and as a professional Reflexologist (IFR) www.bodystyles.oneuk.com. Lullyn has worked on the development and delivery of all Full Spectrum’s projects.
Emma Golby-Kirk, Educational Co-ordinator

Emma runs education and community media projects in Hampshire where she lives. She has an MA in Radio Production from Bournemouth University and enjoys making features and exploring people's life stories.
John Alfredo, Project Manager

In 1989, John and three friends founded an acid jazz group called The Sandals. They signed a contract with London Records and had two hit singles, Feet and Nothing, on the back of which they spent two years traveling round the world. After spending a year studying garden design and horticulture, John became contributing fashion editor for Black Book magazine, New York, then fashion editor for Rubbish magazine, London. He has also worked as a stylist for The Independent. Then he returned to his gardening roots appearing on the BBC Garden SOS television show. John has also worked previous as Project Manager for various Full Spectrum projects, including Living Under One Roof, The Ones We Left Behind, Moving Out, and Building Bridges.
Sharon Rapaport, Oral History Trainer/Administrator

Sharon is an oral historian and documentary filmmaker who specialises in personal life stories and community histories. Over the past 15 years, she has worked on a wide range of documentaries, and has delivered oral history training workshops to communities and NGOs. Sharon has also worked as a co-ordinator in the development phase of Hanging Out project. Sharon is a reat believer in the power of personal histories and memories.

Peter Bender, Site development

Peter Bender formed feinedesign in 1989 and took care to get this site up and running. He is travelling betwen the UK and Germany where he comes originally from. Having run an organic shop in the stone age there, he is now opening an organic japanese tea room at Kings rd. His "other"main focus is the development and design of websites and applications. Books and music can be considered addictions.
Pearlyn Quan

Former Volenteer Web Editor, Pearlyn is a full-time MSc Electronic Publishing student at City University London, and has a special interest in information architecture, user-centred design, and all kinds of food. She is also a freelance illustrator who contributes regularly to film magazine Electric Sheep and various fashion publications. Pearlyn is originally from Singapore, and has edited for both the local edition of Seventeen magazine and Female magazine, a best-selling fashion glossy in Singapore.
Full Spectrum Productions
Full Spectrum Productions, formed in 2004, is a not-for-profit production company. The main purpose is to design, develop and deliver interactive community educational projects to inform, enable learning and participation. Our activities include research,
volunteer training, theatre/film productions, publications and events relating to the varied social issues, past and present that are topical in diverse Britain.

Living under One Roof (2004—2009) www.tuaregproductions.com, - stage play, exhibition, learning pack - Caribbean migrants arriving in Britain for the first time during Windrush era and the tensions and celebrations of communal living
Moving Out (2007) www.tuaregproductions.com – stage play - The contributions that Caribbean people made to industries in Nottingham during the 50/60s.
The Ones We Left Behind (2008) www.tuaregproductions.com – stage play, exhibition - The decisions Caribbean and other communities made in leaving their homelands and the impact on loved ones left behind.
Building Bridges (2008) – documentary - The experiences of the host community in seeing large groups of Caribbean people arriving in Britain after the 2nd World War
